IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation (BSCANH)

IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation (BSCANH) is a unique, rigorous research project carried out independently by BSCANH students participating in IGNOU’s Bachelor of Science Anthropology Program. It is worth six credits (240 study hours).

The IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation is intended to exhibit research abilities as well as understanding of contemporary Science Anthropology education practises and theoretical frameworks.

IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation Manual (BSCANH)

The IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation Manual, which was created as part of the BSCANH course, serves as the dissertation process’s leading guideline, as well as the structure and content of dissertation materials. Students should seek advice from their programme director and dissertation counsellor on any dissertation-related issues that are not addressed in the Dissertation Guidelines.

The research you conduct as part of this course will be a significant expansion of your strong skill or knowledge in your concentration area. The dissertation will greatly increase knowledge, professional practise, or your understanding of the area of study.

Your dissertation should demonstrate that you are capable of producing intellectual and scholarly work that contributes to the field of dietetics/nutrition education. The Dissertation indicates that you, as a student, are capable of raising a compelling intellectual question and employing scientific investigation procedures.

As part of your dissertation research, you will be requested to do a range of assignments. For your convenience, a checklist of the steps that must be accomplished in the order specified is included.

IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation Checklist (BSCANH)

1) Speak with the Program Coordinator about the Dissertation Guide/Counselor Assignment: The first step is to contact the study centre coordinator for the programme. The programme coordinator must make plans to provide competent counselors/guides to students (on an individual basis) for research purposes. Students may also nominate a counsellor from the programme study centre or an expert from outside the programme (with sufficient research and topic experience) to help them with their Thesis/Dissertation.

In such cases, consult the program’s in-charge for allocation. If an expert from outside is considered, the student will make the necessary arrangements to provide the expert’s bio-data to the program’s coordinator, who will confirm that the guide’s qualifications, experience, and expertise meet the program’s requirements (a supervisor/guide/counselor must have a Doctoral degree in nutrition, dietetics, health, or a related field). If the supervisor is pursuing a master’s degree, he or she must have relevant research experience for a certain amount of time). In the event of doubt, the programme incharge may submit the biodata of the external dissertation guide/counselor for consultation to the Programme Coordinator at IGNOU headquarters.

2) Confer with Dissertation Guide/Counselor: Once a dissertation counsellor is assigned, the student must consult with the counsellor to choose the field of research and specific topic for the dissertation. With the help of this guide/adviser, the student should discuss and develop the offered issue.

3) Describe the Research Area and Specific Issue: The student should specify the research area and specific topic, as well as the problem or point of interest to be addressed.

4) Undertake a Literature Review: The student should conduct a literature review on the dissertation subject and consult with the counselor/guide on the issue, including the approach strategy and techniques for assessing the outcomes.

5) Prepare and Submit IGNOU BANE-154 Synopsis: The student must submit the IGNOU BANE-154 Proposal to the counsellor by the deadline (along with information to the programme coordinator). Any necessary changes will be communicated to the student prior to the counselor’s final approval.

6) Conduct the Study: The student may begin creating, conducting, and writing the dissertation only after receiving dissertation approval (from the counsellor).

7) Keep in Consistent Contact with Your BSCANH Dissertation Counselor/Guide: Share your experiences, provide feedback on the data obtained, and alert the counsellor of any challenges or problems encountered. Discuss data analysis and other relevant issues. Give them copies of your completed chapters for review and critique.

8) Submit Initial Draft: Send the initial draught to the counsellor in its entirety for examination and feedback. Please make certain that your work is correctly structured and that it has been extensively examined for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and format. Make the indicated changes.

9) Submit the Final Manuscript: Send the first bound copy of your word-processed, printed dissertation to the programme coordinator for examination and approval. Ensure that you have gotten the necessary signatures from your counsellor and programme director.

10) Dissertation Evaluation by External Experts: Dissertations will be assessed in the order in which they are received. An expert will review the dissertation, and a viva-voce will be held (oral defence).

How to Prepare an IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation (BSCANH)?

With care, write and structure your IGNOU BANE-154 Project Report. Perusing the reports of several dozen previously accepted dissertations is maybe the simplest way to obtain a feel of how the dissertation should appear. These may be available at your programme centre library as well as other University libraries. This is an efficient way for analysing the organisation and presentation of a dissertation as a whole.

In addition to the previously stated components, your report will include some more information, resources, and material, which is a compulsory component of dissertation papers.

The following is how the IGNOU BANE-154 Project/Dissertation Report is organised:

As you may have noticed, the report includes front matter as well as the abstract and introduction. The title page, certificates, acknowledgements, table of contents, list of tables, and figures are all included.

We will now go through these items to see if they may be included in the report’s front matter.

Page Title

A sample of the dissertation’s beginning page, often known as the title page. Prepare the paper as needed.

Original Work/Certificate of Authenticity

It is vital that you establish that the content you are providing is your own work when submitting your study for evaluation. The purpose of this exercise is for you, the researcher, to take responsibility for defending the substance of the report that you wrote under the guidance/supervision of the counselor/program incharge at the programme study centre.

Furthermore, the supervisor should confirm that the study is unique and that it was carried out by the researchers under his or her supervision.

The declaration given in Annexure 4 at the end of the booklet should be included in the authenticity certificate.

Section Table of Contents

The Table of Contents includes the sections and portions of your report, as well as the relevant (starting) page number, which must be correct. Refer to the framework supplied before each unit in your theoretical course as a reference. You may also view Annexure 5 for an example of how the table of contents should look.

Figures and tables

The report must include a table of contents that lists all tables and figures in the order they appear, complete with page numbers. The list of tables and figures should be prepared as follows at the beginning of the report. Also, make certain that each table and figure is properly numbered. The number refers to the section in which the table or figure appears.

If there are many tables for a same notion, use an alphabetical suffix to distinguish one table from the others. To demonstrate, if three tables are used to categorise growth standards, they are Tables 1.2(a), 1.2(b), and 1.2(c) (c). The same may be stated about Figures (i.e. diagrams).

The Use of Abbreviations

If the report contains shorter terminology that the readers are unlikely to be familiar with, a glossary of abbreviations may be required. Arrange the acronyms alphabetically.

The abbreviations would be followed by the abstract and introduction. These and future sections will be presented in the manner previously mentioned. The guidelines for preparing the manuscript are as follows. Examine these guidelines thoroughly before commencing to compose the dissertation report’s paper.

Manuscript Preparation for the IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation

The report should be typed/word processed and printed on A4 paper with one-and-a-half or double line spacing. References and appendices can be single-spaced. At the bottom of each page in the main report, provide a page number.

If your report is double-sided (typed on both sides of the paper), pay special attention to the margins. On the left side of the page, there should be a margin of at least 1.5 inches (4cm), and 1.25 inches on the top, right, and bottom (3cm). To aid readability, the right margin should be justified to the left. The main text should be either 12 point Times New Roman or 11 point Arial.

Italicize crucial parts within the text and main section titles in boldface.

While colour printing can be used for charts, pictures, and other graphics, clarity always takes precedence over colour or intricate designs.

Check the report for style, spelling, and grammatical issues before submitting it for evaluation. Because you are accountable for the completed work’s accuracy, run it through a spellchecker to find any typographical or spelling errors. Furthermore, you should proofread it. Consider reading aloud your work. Is it logical, concise, and accurate?

These tips will undoubtedly help you write an outstanding report. Finally, a word about manuscript binding.

Binding and Distribution for the IGNOU BANE-154 Dissertation Manuscript

After the final copy of the manuscript has been accepted by the counsellor, the student will arrange for the creation of two bound copies of the dissertation at their own expense. The student will submit one copy (duly attested by the student, counsellor, and programme incharge) to the programme study centre for action.

The second copy will be kept by the student for personal use. Furthermore, if the counsellor so wants, the student may be compelled to make a third copy.
